God, I thank you for the gift of raising this precious person. Please help me to give grace--undeserved
grace like You lavish upon me. May I see
when I am the cause of the conflict, the immature one, the
one who ought to be silent; and may I choose for my own heart to temporarily feel battered,
rather than hastily match any disrespectful words or deeds out of prideful stubbornness. Please help me to choose to be an instrument
of peace in tense moments, whatever age or stage this wonderful youngster is
experiencing, and help me to be mindful of how You don't throw my own flaws in
my face. I need Your help, Lord, in
remaining silent until I have thought and prayed and discerned. Please use me to help build in this young soul
a sense of the security of being loved, the significance of having a purpose,
and the hope of a bright future. Thank
You for the grace and mercy in which You immerse the two of us.
Amen.
