Why YOU Are as Important as a Celebrity (or a snob, a bully, a socialite, a billionaire, or . . . anybody!)

In my new novel, A Safe Place to Land, Jag Marley has been told all his life that he is worthless, and he finds it difficult to believe otherwise; especially when he compares himself to Tadd Barton, who appears to have the perfect celebrity existence.

Everyone, at least sometimes, questions the worth of their life.  Maybe not everyone reaches the lowest point of feeling worthless, but it's easy to compare ourselves with others, and perceive ourselves as lacking in one way or another.

The true reality is that, no matter what you've been told or how you've been made to feel, you are important, worthwhile, special, precious, and immeasurably valuable!  What others say about you, or what you say about yourself, has no impact on your true value.  You have amazing worth, regardless of what any person does or doesn't say, or whether or not they agree with this assessment.

How do I know?  Because the God who made you SAYS so!  And He is the ultimate authority on you.  He has the last say.  And He says you're incredible because He made you in His own image!

Genesis 1:27  "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

Psalm 139:13-14 "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."

Zephaniah 3:17  "The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing."

Psalm 8:3-5  "When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor."

Luke 12:6-7  "What’s the price of two or three pet canaries? Some loose change, right? But God never overlooks a single one. And he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries."

Sure, each one of us is flawed, and we each try to be the god of our own life, which only separates us from the one true God, so that we can't even claim to be His children, without provision.

But provide He did.  Because He LOVES you.  Because He deems you worth the sacrifice!  He wouldn't have endured what He did for a nobody.

John 3:16-17  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."

So, even if you ARE the celebrity, snob, bully, socialite, billionaire, etc., you are worthwhile to God because HE SAYS you are, not because of anything you have done or have had proclaimed over you by fellow humans.

And if you're one who has felt devalued by others, or even by your own thoughts about yourself, you're WRONG!  Isn't that great?  Sometimes it's awesomely relieving to find out you're wrong about something, isn't it?  I encourage you to focus on what GOD, the One whose opinion matters most, says about YOU! :)
