Never Say Never: The Magic of E-Reading

I was always one of those who say, "I would never read a book on an electronic device!"   I didn't care if I was behind the times.  The "magic" of reading a book in print had its hold on me.  You know . . . it fits comfortably in your hands, and that smell of a book-book can't be beat.  The older, the better (though I was that girl in elementary school who couldn't wait for the teacher to open the box of newly delivered Scholastic books--just so I could bask in the scent of print on paper.  Oh, and I also always sniffed the freshly printed ditto worksheets, which was even better, but nonexistent in this day and age!).

No, e-reading was not for me!

But then I tried it.  And, though I still like to read a book-book from time to time, eBooks have proven themselves to me.  Just think:

They are SO convenient!  Going on vacation?  Enjoying an afternoon at the beach or pool?  Spend a lot of time in waiting rooms?  You can have a zillion books on one device without lugging the hard copies around!

They conserve space.  Big time!  Again, kajillions of books available, and no shelf space needed!

They often cost less.  Not always, but often.

Some books are only available electronically.  It's true.  I happen to be an indie author who publishes eBooks exclusively.  For now, anyway.  It's what works for my life in this moment.

And, most importantly:

The magic is NOT in the paper and ink.  Nor in the Kindle.
The magic is in the words!
